Beer Dinner at Liliana’s on Tuesday Night

What goes good with beer? Food, of course. Delicious food, preferably. As part of my little tour around Wisconsin, I will be stopping in Fitchburg Tuesday night (December 14) at the New Orleans-style restaurant Liliana’s. I’ve written Liliana’s up numerous times: in newspapers, guidebooks and even an iPhone app. And the restaurant volunteered to host me for a beer book event because it is listed as “Stumbling Distance” from the Great Dane Pub and Brewery in my Wisconsin’s Best Beer Guide. I’ll be signing the book there from 5pm-8pm during Chef Dave Heide’s Tuesday Night Three-Course Tasting Menu. Here’s what’s on and what beers are served with it.

  • 1st Course: Beer cheese soup with Cajun spiced popcorn (New Glarus Brewery’s Spotted Cow)
  • Entree: Beer-braised peppercorn-crusted Cornish game hen with drunken squash and potato puree (Furthermore’s Knotstock, an IPA with fresh ground pepper!)
  • Dessert: Guinness brownie with malt ice cream (New Glarus’s Wisconsin Belgian Red)

  • So if my book or me making a spectacle of myself at the bar are not enough, come for the awesome food. The set menu runs $35 $30 and includes the beers. (Usually it’s $30 with a $10 wine flight — always a great deal and great meal.)

Check this out: Creole Trio: Etoufee, Gumbo, and Jambalaya. I know, this isn’t on the set menu, but it’s a great entree or appetizer for sharing if you get there early!
