Sizzling Summer Hotspots

Summer is supposedly here, which means just one thing: it’s time to jet off to sunnier climes and enjoy a week or two somewhere warm with your nearest and dearest. It’s the time of year that thousands, even millions of people look forward to with earnest, providing a much-needed break from the daily grind that gives you the chance to fully relax and unwind.

But where to go? When it comes to picking your ideal summer hotspots, there’s a never-ending list of wonderful places to see. From luxury cruise getaways to cheap holidays in Spain, romantic city breaks to action-packed cycling holidays, there’s a trip to suit every age, taste and budget.

One destination that never fails to disappoint is Santorini. This glorious Greek beauty is all craggy cliff tops, rugged landscapes and dramatic vistas. Born out of turbulent volcanic activity, Santorini’s spectacular scenery is made all the more beautiful by splashes of colour in the form of blue-domed churches, lush greenery and white-washed houses, against a backdrop of cloudless blue skies and twinkling azure seas. It’s certainly a sight to behold.

But despite its exclusive appeal, there are plenty of low-cost Santorini holidays available. Whether you choose to travel modestly, booking a cheap scheduled flight and a basic apartment, or book with a tour operator and take advantage of last-minute deals or cut-price offers, there are plenty of options available for all tastes and budgets.

If you plan to make time for exploring once you get there, staying in an apartment or villa on a self-catering basis is a great way to really get into the local way of life. As well as enjoying the sumptuous island restaurants, you can also visit the local markets and grocery shops and whip up a delicious dish or two using fresh ingredients and trying out some sumptuous Greek recipes. It’s simple, delicious and it won’t cost the earth. What more could you ask?
