The Wisconsin Experience: Supper Clubs

In Wisconsin, a supper club is something we generally take for granted. Every town’s got one or isn’t far down the road from one. Most of us have been to one maybe for a family dinner, prom night or even a wedding, but when someone from outside the Midwest asks what a supper club is, many Wisconsinites are at a loss to describe it.

My latest article in the Chicago Tribune attempts to sort it out…

    • Thank you, my good man! I’m back in Madison. I have a question for you about beer: When?

  • Interesting that you mentioned the Supper Club beer from Capitol. Had that not too long ago. A guy from my class is from Madison and he brings back beer whenever he goes back or has his parents bring beer whenever they visit. Pretty much everything they’ve brought back has been good. So far everything has been either from Capitol or New Glarus. We also have a guy who brings back beer from Buffalo and their beers aren’t too shabby, either.

    • Those are some good friends! We’ve got to move him beyond Capitol and NG. Nothing wrong with either, but a whole world of Wisconsin beers out there. Spread the love around a little, ya know?
